Since I've decided to illustrate scenes for battles, I've indulged myself in trying to research how to do just that. I picked up a book on how to draw warriors and heroes when I purchased my new drawing pad the other day. I've spent numerous hours online looking at suitable and appropriate armor, I've looked at real swords and replica swords. At the end of all this; I must say: researching actual weaponry and armor is proving more difficult that I would have hoped, or imagined possible with the internet. This probably just means I'm going to have to get more in depth with how I try to find things. Until then, I'll work with what I do have.

Since Wikipedia has proved useless unless I know exactly what I'm looking for, and even then it falters I had the bright idea to simply try the thesaurus. With a plethora of names for "Sword" paired with Google Image searches, I was able to compile a list of different types of swords with a rough sketch and a vague definition. I feel if I know the basics of how something actually works or is, I can then expand on that in a more fantastical way without pushing myself into outer space. From where I am now, I could probably decipher which directions I want to go in, as far as bladed weapons are concerned. Once I choose a basic style, I'll probably end up looking at actual books to further my knowledge on those specific weapons of choice.
