Pax 217 Tshirt Upcycle

I started with this t-shirt. I love this shirt, it's from one of my favorite, yet disbanded, bands. Plus it's fun. THE ONLY problem I had with it was that it fit me too well... it wasn't long enough. So on a whim I decided to change it, and started cutting it up before I could change my mind. I mostly followed all of the same steps as my Christmas in April shirt. I didn't cut all the way down the sides, just took it in to the waist and closed up the former arm holes.

Then I decided I would actually try the bow back thing that I was going to do on the last one, but ended up not doing. Also; since I'm a girl who always has to wear a bra because I'm not pencil thin, nor shaped like a twelve year old boy; I opted to do my best to make it so I could still wear my bra without looking too tacky. I marked and measured where the bra clasp is and cut equidistant from the top down.  I also added in a second one, the same width as the first. Then I hemmed each side of both slits.

Then using fabric from the discarded old collar  I cut two rectangles about 4 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. With both long edges folded into the center, I zigzagged down the middle to secure it.

After that I wrapped each through the slits and around the remaining shirt fabric. Then I hand-stitched the little pieces closed, so that they overlapped and were about bra clasp width. That's about 1.75 inches. I suppose I could tack each to the center of the 'bow' but I haven't done that yet.

Viola! I was finished. It's now a bit longer, and a bit lighter. I just need to wash it to get the chalk off of it. (Like I said in the last one, The bra on the dress form is not one I'd wear with this shirt, and the bra I would wear with it doesn't show.)
