Wedding Invitations

I finally had an opportunity, with enough time, to sit down and design and put together my wedding invitations. Since I haven't found a job yet here, we're short on money, so I decided a DIY option was best. My dad offered to help with his fancy printers, and they could have been so very awesome. But once I started, I was on a roll and just finished them. I started by creating my own envelope, then the invite itself and an "RSVP" card. It only took me two full days. But I'm laid up with an ear infection so it worked out just fine. I couldn't find an envelope, in possession, that I liked enough to trace and copy. So I found one, close enough, figured out the dimensions and created a template in illustrator. After designing the general look of it, I took the prototype envelope to the post office to make sure it would mail. After some minor adjustments, I was able to create a matching set of envelope and inserts. Vioala!
As far as the invitation itself; I opted for a combination of traditional and non-traditional. The wording is very traditional; to appease my mother who wanted the whole; These parents are hosting the wedding of their child, thing. But I do not see the point of doing an inner envelope and an outer envelope, nor did I want to spend additional money on RSVP envelopes that probably won't even be returned to me. Besides that, I'm sending these out late and I'd prefer if people just call or respond to me via email. I don't need a fancy card to tell me someone "Gladly accepts" or "Regretfully Declines" or whatever wording I'd have to come up with for that.

Each of the envelopes were printed individually; to avoid my terrible handwriting, with each name and address already on them. So I didn't have to do that finial step, so I finished putting them together last night. Puese took them to the post office this morning and they are now out of my control. Of course, after I sealed them all I realized that I put the wrong time on them. So I guess the wedding is starting half hour later than
planned. Oops.
